Directors of Studies (DoSes) are responsible for the academic work of undergraduates and there is a DoS for each subject. Most are Fellows of the College, but in some subjects, the Director of Studies may be shared with another College.
DoSes will provide introductory material to students before their course begins and meet with them on arrival to explain the teaching system. They also offer advice on course choice options and arrange supervisions (which are the small group teaching sessions provided by colleges that characterise a Cambridge undergraduate education) as well as monitoring and supporting academic progress.
