Dr Kate Pretty was Principal from 1991 until her retirement in 2013. She is an archaeologist by training. She was one of the University's five Pro-Vice-Chancellors with special responsibilities for outreach, life-long learning and international strategy as well as overseeing the work of the University's museums and libraries. She taught in the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology.
