Choral Services
Although Homerton does not have a chapel, the Charter Choir sings a weekly Choral Evensong on Tuesdays at 6.30pm during term time (held at St John the Evangelist, Hills Road), and there are also occasional other weekend and weekday commitments, including cathedral visits, a Carol Service, and a Choral Eucharist on Ash Wednesday.
In College
The Charter Choir sings in the end-of-term concerts, organised by the Homerton College Music Society, and also also plays an important part in the College’s wider community life, including singing at the main annual feast, the Charter Dinner. Past members of the choir are regularly invited back for reunion events, such as for the 10th anniversary of Homerton’s Royal Charter, in March 2020.
Tours
Each year the Charter Choir leaves the shores of the UK for an international tour. These are always a balance of hard work and great fun. Tours are generously subsidised by the College. Choral Scholars are expected - while volunteers are encouraged - to attend. The 2022 tour was to Gibraltar.
Virtual performances
You can listen to our Covid-era virtual performances in July 2020, December 2020 (carols), and April 2021 (Easter Day).
