Shanna Hart will join Homerton as the College’s first Assistant Organist on 1st September, supporting the Charter Choir as they return to regular concerts and services.

The position is a fixed-term appointment for one year, in the absence of a Senior Organ Scholar. Shanna was Organ Scholar at Selwyn College as an undergraduate from 2014-18, before spending a year as Graduate Organist at Robinson. She is currently Director of Music at St Botolph without Aldgate, in the City of London, a role which she will combine with her responsibilities at Homerton, as well as teaching and performing.

Lorenzo Bennett will also join the College as Junior Organ Scholar in the autumn, reading music.

Shanna and Lorenzo will play for the choir’s weekly Evensong services at St John the Evangelist, Hills Road, on Tuesday evenings in term time. They will both also join the choir on a planned tour of Italy in 2022.

Shanna says: “I’m really looking forward to joining such a friendly and welcoming College, and of course to working with the Charter Choir, especially after so many months of restrictions.”
