Curious about our planet

I’ve chosen to study Natural Sciences (Biological in particular) because I really enjoy learning about the behind the scenes of our planet and I am always intrigued to know how or why things work the way they do. What particularly caught my eye about the Cambridge NatSci course is how broad and flexible it is. I am so curious about so many things so narrowing down my subject choices early on would be really tricky for me and I want to keep learning at a large breadth and depth for longer.

Olympiad Club

I went to a new comprehensive sixth form in Leicester city centre called Beauchamp City. We were the second intake and my year group was very diverse and multicultural - I loved it as I learnt so much from my friends about their cultures and it allowed me to have a greater perspective of the world. My teachers always said applying to Oxbridge was like a lottery and to always just go for it. There was some structured help from my college but my chemistry teacher was amazing at helping me. He did a mock interview with me and ran an Olympiad club afterschool where I could learn more about Chemistry outside of the A Level Curriculum.

In 2022, I came on a Sutton Trust Summer School at Selwyn College and I loved every second of it. The lectures and practical were amazing and I really liked the academic but supportive environment Cambridge has. In particular, I loved how conversational learning was and how friendly everyone was. On our last day, we visited Homerton College and it felt like home. I was then completely set on applying here.

Excited to start a new chapter

There’s a mix of emotions that I am feeling about going to Homerton. I’m so excited to start a new chapter and continue studying (as I’ve really missed it). But I’m equally anxious and nervous about meeting new people, being away from home and being able to keep up with everyone around me. However, that aside, I think it’s all good butterflies and I cannot wait to begin a new chapter!

I’m most excited about meeting everyone and embarking on this new chapter together. I know it’s going to be challenging, but I’m excited to try out new things and get fully stuck in!
