On 21 June, the Principal Lord Woolley celebrated the students who have received College Representation Awards for this academic year. These students have represented Homerton College at University level (and beyond!) in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. The students were joined by the Bursar, Senior Tutor and Principal to celebrate and enjoy a glass of Pimms in recognition of their achievements.

Lord Woolley said: "It is a great honour to see that even though you are at Cambridge University to study and to work hard academically, you have still excelled in your extra-curricular activities. It is extraordinary to have Homerton students here who have done a such a wide array of amazing things this past year, from power-lifters and rowers, to magazine editors and salsa dancers. I'm so proud of all of you, and that you have been able to do something fulfilling to enrich your lives and the lives of those around you."

Tomos Miller, a second-year Land Economy student, received his award for achieving Club Colours for Rugby at University level. He said: "It is wonderful to spend some time in the sunshine and relax after a busy term of exams and to hear what everyone has been up to during the year. I'm really thankful for the award, as the College provided free accommodation which meant I was able to attend pre-season training with the club. Sport is a massive part of my experience at University, competing at Blues level, but also finding time to play for the College rugby and cricket teams".

Homerton students who received sporting awards include: Beth Merrifield, (Veterinary Medicine) and Gianluca Vartan, (Architecture), who beat Oxford, (respectively, in the Women's and Men's Lightweight Rowing; Emilia Keavney (Engineering), Football Blue for CU Association Football Club and goalkeeper in Cambridge's 4-0 win in the Varsity match; Rachel Lam, (PGCE) Volleyball Blue for CU Volleyball Club; and Emil Ares, (Natural Sciences) Boxing Blue.

Amongst those celebrating non-sporting achievements were Louis Cohen, (Natural Sciences), President and Founder of CU Mycological Society; Elizabeth Willey, (Education Tripos), Events Director for Cambridge Women in Business; Kate Lucas (Engineering), Co-President of the CU Robotics Club; Milo Flynn (Music), Vice-President of the CU Jazz Society and Bronagh Leneghan (Human, Social and Political Sciences), Producer at the ADC Theatre.
