Homerton is delighted to continue to be the home College for those who wish to take up the one year part-time Master of Education course (MEd) available to those who have successfully completed their PGCE training at Cambridge. We also warmly welcome those who may wish to join Homerton from other Colleges for this year, and those who wish to enrol on the two year part-time MEd course. We have a large cohort of part-time MEd students and highly value the extra dimension they bring to the College community.
All students must become a member of a College while they are in Cambridge. Homerton College has close ties with the Faculty of Education which is situated alongside and within the grounds of the College, and many of our senior members are also involved with delivering MEd programmes.
Sharing a site with the Faculty of Education also means that when you are working in the University it is no distance at all between the lecture rooms and the Griffin Buttery and Bar or the dining hall, or the Graduate Common Room. Unusually among Cambridge Colleges, Homerton has free car parking spaces available for all of its MEd students which is very convenient for those travelling into Cambridge for lectures and events.
As a graduate student, you will automatically be part of the Homerton Union of Students MCR (Middle Combination Room) who coordinate social events and represent the views and interests of the higher degree students on College committees, including College Council. The College also offers regular Formal Halls, Academic Skills sessions, access to IT and library facilities on a 24 hour basis, and a Matriculation lunch to ensure you get to know others on your course and in your cohort. We hope that this, as well as the other College facilities, will encourage you to choose Homerton as your College 'home'.
How to Apply
Applications for all part-time MEd courses at Cambridge are made via Graduate Admissions; you will also find the Fee details on their website. Further details on the different courses/routes and application deadlines are available on the Faculty of Education's website.
