Bethany Clarke

I’m Bethany, a recent graduate of the Cambridge PGCE, Secondary English. I am currently focused on setting up a Child Safe Space in Athens, Greece at a newly formed NGO founded by two friends and past colleagues ‘The Fáilte Centre’. With support from the Changemakers Seed Fund, I am designing a trauma-informed approach for the space, building on the research I did for my PGCE into the impact of trauma-informed approaches in the English classroom. I am also exploring how technology could make these trauma-informed interventions both more impactful and more widely accessible. Having worked in the humanitarian field previously, I have experienced first hand the impact of vicarious trauma and burnout. I have found the practice of expressing myself through poetry has been incredibly beneficial for me. I am delighted to have the opportunity to share that with you this week.
