Homerton City Network

The power to shape society

By Jenny Ridge 2min read

The very first meeting of the Homerton City Network in the Oxford and Cambridge Club on the 19 April welcomed a group of smart, innovative people connecting, networking, sharing experiences and enjoying the hospitality of the Club. The City Network is a forum for Homerton alumni who work in Law, Finance, or Consultancy. Whether freshly minted alumni or established professionals, people came along to hear both our Principal, Lord Woolley, and alumnus, lawyer, entrepreneur and blockchain expert Dan Hyde share their stories of how we, as a College and a community, are the necessary disrupters that have the power to shape society for good. Networks were built and expanded – and, hopefully, some great future partnerships have been sparked.

For any alumni working in these professions, we have three Breakfast Round Table events planned for the coming year. The first of these will be hosted at UBS, with the topic "Promising investment opportunities over the next 5 years". Aimed at mid and senior level professionals, this event asks our alumni one question: Where does the next opportunity lie? Come prepared to pitch and share the idea or area you've identified as one to watch out for in the next 5 years. Whether it is an individual asset, an asset class, sector, or theme, we are inviting you to share your thoughts on current value for investment as well as the risks, with a select audience of your fellow Homertonians.  We will be putting together a diverse selection for the meeting; places are limited, so this will be on a first come first served basis and we will run a waiting list if necessary. If you have an idea but cannot attend, but are happy to share your thoughts, send them in and we will be sure to share it with the group.  If you have any queries, please contact Christopher Hallebro, Deputy Director of Development, direct via email.

If you would like to attend, please send your name, position, and company, along with an outline of your idea, to Christopher at ch595@homerton.cam.ac.uk by Friday 12 May. Details are below.
