About Grace

Grace Hernández has 10 years experience of working within mental health services amongst various roles spanning from acute hospitals to the charity sector.  Grace is at Homerton for the wellbeing of the whole community, inclusive of students, staff and Fellows. 

She is a qualified Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor who is registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). Her credentials are: MSc Therapeutic Counselling, BSc Psychology, Level 3 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, PTSD Management Course Diploma with specialist training in; Suicide Mitigation, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Domestic Abuse Champion, Trauma Training, Trauma Informed Approach, Conflict Resolution, Difficult Conversations and Mental Health Awareness.

At Homerton

Grace occupies a strategic role as the College Wellbeing Lead, advocating for the wellbeing of the community and its members to be considered in all decisions. Grace also equips the College by facilitating training to staff, students and fellows. 

Grace is also the Safeguarding Co-Ordinator. This means that she co-ordinates complaints and feedback regarding both Safeguarding and safeguarding (please see Safeguarding Policy for context and definitions) concerns and triages these to the appropriate process to be navigated. 

Grace is available to chat during  student drop-ins where arts and crafts will be available.

The Way I Work - Privacy and Confidentiality

Students

As the College Wellbeing Lead, I am part of the Wellbeing Team. For the team to work as effectively and efficiently as possible, we work within ‘team confidentiality’ in order to best support you. This means that information will be shared  with the members of the Wellbeing & Senior Tutor Team* as this is believed to be in your best interest and beneficial to supporting you most effectively whilst at Homerton College.

HOWEVER, if you do not consent for me to share with the team, please make me aware of this. I will endeavour to honour privacy, although if you or others are at risk, I will be required to break confidentiality. If I was required to break confidentiality, I would inform you of this, if possible before doing so.

*Community Health Adviser,  Wellbeing Assistant, Senior Tutor, Deputy Senior Tutor, Postgraduate Tutor. 

Staff

Anything discussed with me will be kept private and confidential unless you or others are at risk.  In that instance I would be required to break confidentiality. Alternatively, it may be that you give permission for me to share information and act upon our conversation, in this case I will gain your consent before I take any action.
